CD Sleeve “The Stranger and the Hightide” (EP)
The Stranger and the Hightide might be seen as a weird place to go following A Boat on the Sea, musically speaking. It’s a sidequest of sorts, abandoning the oceanic depths for tumbleweed and dust—favoring a more simplistic approach to its instruments and compositions. The truth of the matter is; we have far too many songs flying about, and many of them sound too radically different to feature on one of our main albums. But they still deserve a home, so they will be released as EPs. There will be many more EPs in the future, but this particular one has a connection to our next main album—a connection we will not divulge here!
The Stranger and the Hightide has a western rock-feel. Twangy guitars, Hammond Organ, vintage tape machines, and a decidedly more “live” sound to it. It was mixed by returning cowboy Mike Watts and mastered by Karl Klaseie, Øra Mastering. The artwork was done by Thomas Falla Eriksen, evoking the style of the French surrealist Moebius, and the aesthetics of French graphic novels from the 1970s.

CD “A Boat on the Sea”
Re-emerging from the primordial soup of modern music, Moron Police return with A Boat on the Sea in the hopes of offering something different to those who would listen. This time they’ve eschewed their metal origins and focused on a progressive rock/pop sound, while still retaining their eclectic style of genre-bending music.
“A Boat on the Sea” is many things. Catchy and adventurous, but with an underlying current of Scandinavian melancholy—as perfectly captured by returning cover artist DULK. It has huge choruses, rampant guitar play, inventive synths, a plethora of time-signature changes—all the workings of an album of excess, yet it comes together to form a cohesive whole. Perhaps its most defining feature is that it sounds like Moron Police and no-one else, and no manner of superlative spluttering could really hope to capture its spirit. The best way to describe it would be to hear it.
The album is filled to the brim with catchy melodies and leitmotifs that will have you humming along until your ears start to bleed… in a good way.
